Street Sign Installation:

Most manufactures recommend installing 18” in the ground, we typically install 24-30” if grade is possible to give the sign more stability. The diameter of the hole should be approximately 8” wide to allow the pole to be inserted into your hole and have enough space to pour your concrete to create a complete ball once the concrete has cured.  Federal guidelines require your sign to be a minimum of 84” from the bottom of the sign to the road surface. Local jurisdictions may require additional heights. Always call your local Ms. Utility before you dig.

Helicopter Mounted Street Signs:

  1. Install Bottom bracket to top of pole. Attach Sign blade.
  2. Install Second bracket to First Sign blade tighten set screws. Attach Second Sign Blade.
  3. If  you have a base slide this up the bottom of your pole high enough that you will have room to maneuver around your base, but will be able to also pack your concrete.
  4. Place street sign in your hole. Pour dry concrete in the hole, making sure all surface areas are covered. Typically 60 lbs per unit.
  5. Pack Concrete making sure your pole is level
  6. Cover about 2” of top with dirt from you hole. Pack well. Level again. Lower base. Touch up paint if necessary. Rustoleum Textured Black spray paint.

Federal Highway            requirements for installation are 7' from the road surface to ensure pedestrian safety. Mark this location. At this point you can determine how much distance you want to allow between your Stop or Traffic sign and your sign blades.
